Loved the Frito misto combination of fried scallops, shrimp and calamari !! Less charmed by the garlic bread and Mondavi Pino Grigio. Service was amazing.. two servers at 100 mi per hour for about 20 tables..no dish sat on the bar for 1 minute before heading or their diner! So kind and friendly as well!

A Delightful Italian Lunch Experience I recently had the pleasure of dining at this Italian restaurant, and it truly satisfied my craving. We ordered a variety of dishes, each one better than the last. My daughter absolutely loved her Fettuccine Alfredo - the creamy sauce was perfectly balanced. I opted for the Pesto Pasta, which was extra creamy and has quickly become one of my favorites. The Tortellini and Ribeye Steak were also delicious, offering a great mix of flavors and textures. To top it all off, we indulged in the Chocolate Panna Cotta for dessert. I must say, it's one of the best I've ever had - rich, smooth, and just the right amount of sweetness. The service was outstanding, attentive, and friendly. We chose to sit outside, and the ambiance was just right, making our lunch even more enjoyable. Overall, this was a fantastic dining experience, and I'll definitely be back for more!

I tried their breakfast and it is delicious . Nice shaded outside sitting area. Service is very good. I had veggie omelette. I believe they also do hot water and coffee refills for free.

Come here for the food- seriously it's good. The ambience- not so much. I made a reservation, but it was not needed, maybe because Saturday lunch is not busy. It was a nice day, and we sat outside, which worked out well because the inside is dark and very outdated. Each meal comes with salad, main and ice cream for dessert. To start, we got the cheesy garlic bread to share, it was perfectly soft, but had a crunch. I got the cajun rigatoni with chicken and it did not disappoint. I would definitely get it again. One friend got the chicken alfredo and enjoyed it, other I can't recall. However service was a bit slow, so if you're in a rush, rethink visiting here. You should try this place out, if you're in the mood for a great Italian meal.

Gumba has seemingly turned into our Sunday Brunch spot. In fact, I have taken friends visiting from LA here for breakfast on Sundays and they seem to like the no-frills, homestyle cooking as much as I do. The restaurant is family owned and operated, it is located in the heart of Historic Murphy Square and within walking distance from our home. The service is great, friendly and reasonably fast, but then again, we are there for Sunday Brunch so no hurry. The prices are very reasonable and with the Groupon they're even better.

I was pleasantly surprised at Gumba's. It's a neighborhood Italian place with tasty food. The minestrone and clam chowder were surprisingly my excellent. 'Home made' per the waiter. Pizza was just the type I like with a thinner crust and slightly crispy. Garlic bread great. Chicken parm sandwich was a little too cheesy but delicious. Calzone spot on.

6 course seafood meal for $22? Get out of here! We have come here many times before, always with a Groupon. Memorable because the $50 Groupon was incredibly restrictive: no steaks, no seafood, no veal, and no salad appetizers. This includes pasta dishes with seafood like shrimp. Ended up having to order 3 dishes of pasta and/or pizza to make it to $50 for two people, rendering the Groupon overordering. Today's deal was good on Monday-Thursday before 6pm. Got here just before 6pm on a Thursday. Both of us ordered the blackened catfish at $22. Service is good, and ambiance excellent. Too cold to sit outside. Meal came with bowl of chowder or minestrone. Chowder was OK, creamy but not a whole lot of clams. Three pieces of buttered toasted bread, along with vegetables, and pasta. Each main entree came with the three filets of blackened catfish, with tartar sauce. Catfish was decent, with just enough powdered spice on the outside to liven up the otherwise bland white fish. Afterwards a scoop of ice cream, just what I needed on a cold March evening. You can still get the six course blackened catfish dinner in December, but it will cost you $28. First and only time wife and I went to Gumbos without a Groupon.

Oh the greasy goodness that is Gumba's pepperoni pizza. I was in the neighborhood and stopped by Gumba's for the first time since COVID. I'm actually surprised it's still here, more on that later. Gumba's has been around a long time, I first remember going here as a teenager back in the 90s. The food hasn't changed and that's a very good thing. The pizza is one of my absolute favorites, like electric-chair-last-meal-candidate favorite. A few tricks: don't eat the pizza immediately, as good as it looks - you need to wait a few minutes for the grease to settle into the crust where it becomes something very close to New York pizza in texture. Also, they have honey in your standard squeezie bear bottle, and this pizza crust is fantastic with it. The family enjoyed their other items, kids had spaghetti and cheese ravioli respectively, each with butter and a side of marinara, their mom had a spinach salad with prawns she inexplicably added, along with cheese sticks and garlic bread, all excellent. I had myself a Chianti and my partner a Prosecco, both very good if a touch pricey. Especially for a Sunday night, service was excellent, we had a very attentive waiter and busser continuously checking on us. I got the feeling that the waiter wanted me to upsell me on a fancier pizza, but it had been so long that I just wanted my standard go-to. So the last time I had been here was probably about five years ago - and back then it seemed like this place needed a renovation. I don't think it got it. So yeah, it's not exactly the cleanest place to eat, but the food is so worth it. I imagine rents are quite high on Murphy Avenue so I can't fault the owners for not doing much to update the place, but it does desperately need it. In any case, I hope to get out to Sunnyvale again soon and get some more fantastic pizza and other great food at Gumba's!
